A letter from our President
Welcome to the Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta at the University of California, Santa Cruz! Becoming a GPhiB means joining a community of exceptional, intelligent, and strong women who aim to uplift each other through the challenges that young women face during their time in college. Our organization builds confident women with a dedication to academics, leadership, philanthropy, and sisterhood.
I joined Gamma Phi Beta my freshman year while I was taking classes remotely in my bedroom at home. At the time, I did not know much about sororities and wanted to have a few familiar faces around campus when in person classes resumed. I did not realize how greatly this decision would contribute to my experience as a student. This sisterhood taught me the impact of having a community that I could rely on. Sisterhood is empowering. Gamma Phi Beta has helped me grow confidence,
gain leadership skills, and push myself further academically.
Gamma Phi is home to women who inspire me. The friendships I have made have enriched my life. Only through Gamma Phi Beta did my path cross with the women who became my closest friends. This is because our sisters have a wide range of backgrounds, academic goals, interests outside of greek life, and professional aspirations. Still we all came together under the shared values of love, labor, learning, and loyalty. Gamma Phis are committed to creating a welcoming environment based in diversity,
equity, and inclusion.
Our aim of uplifting women and building strong girls extends to our main philanthropic dedication Girls on the Run. Our chapter has a long history with the local chapter of Girls on the Run in Los Gatos. Volunteering at their 5k run is one of our biggest
traditions of the year.
This organization has really helped shape who I am, and I will always be grateful for that. I hope you enjoy learning more about us.
