Formal Fall RecruitmentFormal Fall Recruitment takes place every year in October and is the most common recruitment process that active sisters have partaken in. The Fall Recruitment process allows chapters the opportunity for us to get to know prospective new members and vice versa! We love the ability to show what makes our sorority as the GPHI we know and our philanthropy we serve. At the end of the recruitment, we welcome and celebrate our new members home for Bid Day! |
Continuous Open Bidding (COB):COB, Continuous Open Bidding, is known as informal recruitment. Some chapters may have COB after formal fall recruitment is over and may extend into winter and spring quarter as well! For those who were unable to attend formal fall recruitment or decide later on that greek life is for them, this is a great opportunity! |
Letter from Our Membership Vice President:
Dear Prospective New Member,
First and foremost, I want to express my excitement about your journey through formal recruitment. This is a big step, and I’m so proud of you for opening yourself up to new possibilities. I remember entering my first year at Santa Cruz with a mix of excitement and nerves. I wasn’t sure if recruitment was the right path for me. Moving away from home and trying to find my place in a new environment was challenging. Making friends was not easy for me, and I often felt out of place. Two weeks into college, I already found myself doing something I never could have imagined—signing up for fall recruitment. Choosing to go through recruitment was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I found a group of women who embraced me for who I am, supported me through my struggles, and celebrated my successes. These women come from all walks of life, each bringing something unique to our sisterhood. My sisters have become my family here in Santa Cruz, filling my college experience with love, laughter, and a sense of belonging I never imagined possible. I understand how overwhelming this process can feel. Putting yourself out there is not easy, but I want you to know that you’re not alone in this. As vice president of membership, I am here to support you, to encourage you, and to help you find the place where you truly belong. The connections you’ll make through recruitment can be life changing, just as they were for me. So, as you step into this new chapter, know that I am here for you, cheering you on every step of the way. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes you, and I’m hopeful it will lead you to a home, just as Gamma Phi Beta became for me. With all my best, Julie Frias Membership Vice President |
